Tales of Mere Existence III (Ready)
directed by Lev Yilmaz USA, Animation, 2006, DV, B&W, Magnetic Stereo, 00:01:48 An excerpt from Tales of Mere Existence III - The 7 Habits of Highly Negative People. "Tales Of Mere Existence" is not necessarily about interesting stories, It is what it's title indicates, anecdotes about the gloriously mundane. Everyday stories told not by the Devil on your right shoulder or the Angel on your left, but the voice in the middle of your head that doubts himself, questions everything, and sometimes doesn't let you get out of bed. An unseen narrator tells the stories in a monotone voice, while his doodled illustrations come together on the screen. The stories deal with issues such as Sex, identity, and social confusion and just about anything else you would have writte... more info

A Painful Glimpse Into My Writing Process
directed by Chel White USA, Animation, 2005, Color, Magnetic Stereo, 00:01:30 Dark and humorous, this extremely short film is a stream-of-conscious look at the writing process, told with animated images straight from the subconscious… or somewhere. The narrative originates from an unpublished satirical essay by poet Scott Poole about his own writing process. It was the inspiration for filmmaker Chel White to build this one-minute film upon. Influenced in part by collage films of the 1960’s and early 70’s, this film jitters and pops with a hodgepodge of crazy images. Some are derived from digital still photographs of actor Don Alder and various prop elements relating to the narration. Others are bits and pieces of photo collage overlaid to further push the fre... more info

Outflow Part I
directed by Daniel Carvalho Brazil, Visuals / VJ, 2006, Color, Magnetic Stereo, 00:03:30 The Modern sculpture born in the first half of the 20th century took rounded, organic shapes from nature and added to them straight cuts, flattened surfaces and lines (wires) connecting parts of the piece. The apparent contradiction of the organic and the industrial, flat and straight surfaces created the strong appeal and transcending quality of modern sculpture. As former sculptors we have been developing a series of forms inspired in modern sculpture, using 3D software. Although we could add qualities intrinsic to our media (CG) that the iron and marble sculptors didn’t have – such as transparency and above of all movement. Also we can layer the initial result bringing complexity to ... more info

Passing
directed by Vanessa Woods USA, Experimental, 2007, 16mm, B&W, Dolby SR, 00:01:20 Passing is a short film that explores the idea of passing (passing time, passing histories, and passing away). To create the film, self-portrait photographs of the filmmaker taken in an abandoned home were used as a stage to re-inhabit and reinvent through single frame animation. Mark making, collage and sound engender a new history in the spaces of a vanishing home. ... more info
