Description:
The Dallas Video Festival is one of the premiere festivals in the U.S. In 2002 it celebrated its 15th Anniversary. Held in the Kalita Humphreys Theater at the Dallas Theater Center (a lovely Frank Lloyd Wright building usually used for live theater), the video festival takes over the building for several days in March to present interesting video works from all over the world.
Ernie Kovacs once said "Television - a medium. So called because it is neither rare nor well-done." To prove Ernie's point, just watch a few minutes of mainstream television or visit the local megaplex. But the Dallas Video Festival is your chance to see what you probably won't find anywhere else - an amazing array of rarely-seen works done well, hand-picked by Festival curator Bart Weiss. Over four days, the Dallas Video Festival will screen as many as two hundred vastly diverse programs.
Most film festivals focus on feature-length films or segregate genres such as documentary into special programs, but the Dallas Video Festival provides a constant mix of genres and length. This unusual format allows the audience to serve as the "ultimate" remote control with the ability to choose among four simultaneous and ever-changing programs.
Chances are, if you don't see it at the Dallas Video Festival, you won't see it at all. So come to enjoy, think, visualize, socialize, and surf at the Dallas Video Festival. It's even better than tv.
