Description:
Perhaps the most famous use of the word Rum Doodle is the eponymously named bar and restaurant in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Rum Doodle bar & Restaurant, established in 1980, is known to climbers, walkers and backpackers from all over the world. Behind the bar are wooden boxes with the signatures of hundreds of Everest summiteers, including Sir Edmund Hillary. (I am thinking that he must have signed it a bit after his May 29, 1953 hike).
Rum Doodle is named after the world's highest mountain Mt. Rum Doodle, which is 40,000 1/2 feet high:) The restaurant's bar, the "40,000 1/2 foot" bar is a famous meeting point for people who have successfully completed expeditions in Nepal.
