The DIY Convention will return to the Bay Area on Aug. 12 with an evening program of independent film and music seminars and performances.
The event, to be held at Studio Z gallery and performance space at 11th Street and Folsom, will feature Nadine Condon's Music Manager Summit and the DIY Film Festival running concurrently. Admission includes both events.
Condon, a noted industry consultant and author of "Hot Hits, Cheap Demos," will present separate chats with three successful rock band managers on the secrets of their success. Scheduled to appear are Robert Hayes (Smashmouth, t.A.T.u), Jordan Kurland (Matt Nathansan, Creeper Lagoon), and Carter (the Low Millions, Paula Cole, the eels).
On the film side, we will present a panel on "DIY Film Marketing and Promotion," a discussion on the steps you need to take before and after your film is completed. Scheduled to appear are Richard Martini, director of "You Can't Hurry Love" and the DIY Film Festival programming manager, and Joel S. Bachar, a curator, promoter, exhibitor, distributor and founder of Blackchair Productions and Microcinema International. Other panelists TBA.
Tickets are in advance at www.diyconvention.com. Doors at 7 pm, both programs start at 7:30 p.m. Full bar, 21 and over only. Contact us: Nadine @nadinecondon.com or Bruce@diyconvention.com.
