Q. Are you flexible on length?
A. In a word, NO. The time limits must be strict in order to be fair to everyone. Your film (including titles, credit, intro, etc.) must fall under 15 minutes.
Q. What is unauthored vs. authored DVD and why do not accept authored DVDs?
A. When creating programs, Microcinema creates a show-reel with several short films. To do this we need to use uncompressed (relative to mpeg) versions of your film. The DVD authoring process compresses films into mpeg files and then encodes the files – resulting in a disc with .VOB files. Ripping is an unreliable method for us to extract your film assets.
Unauthored DVDs are just "data-discs" with captured .avi or .mov files.
We are adding to this list all the time, please write us if you have any other questions.
