Bio:
ARI GOLD, an actor-writer-director (and ukulele player but that's another story) was born in San Francisco, and currently lives in New York. He was named one of Filmmaker Magazine's "25 Faces to Watch" in independent film. Ari won a Student Academy Award (Oscar) Gold Medal and a dozen other international best-short-film prizes for "Helicopter," a narrative retelling of the aftermath of his mother's death in a helicopter crash with Bill Graham. Helicopter was called "the year's best short film" by Film Threat. His other shorts include "Culture," a one-minute distillation of world civilization which he wrote, directed, and starred in, which was called “the best 60 seconds of film at Sundance” (Reel.com), and inspired the production of Low-Fi wartime films in Yugoslavia; and "Frog Crossing" (co-directed by Jamie Babbit), which was also a Sundance hit. As an actor, Ari beat out Billy Crudup and Marlon Wayans to win "Stoner of the Year" from High Times Magazine for his performance in the Sony Classics release "Groove”. Ari has several feature scripts in various stages of development and financing, including "War Movie" (production is spearheaded by Cinema Capital). Meanwhile, Ari has produced an album for his band, "the infamous The Honey Brothers, masters of Hawaiian-Appalachian glam rock" (Village Voice). The band plays in rock clubs in New York.
