Bio:
Karen Vanderborght lives and works in Brussels, and partially in Montréal, Canada. Born in 1973, in Brussels. Audiovisual Artist, Teacher, media art curator, DJ, and VJ. She completed her studies in audio-visual arts at the "Hoger Instituut voor Beeldende Kunsten Sint Lucas", Brussels in 1995, and won the first price in the "experimental atelier" section. During and after her studies she followed additional workshops and seminars by Jurgen Reble and Yann Beauvais (film development and chemical/fysical manipulation), Leslie Thornton (theatre and film), Paul Garrin (tactic video), Rose Lowder (filmframe), Ken Jacobs en Flo (3D in film), Sue Friedrich, Stefan Ram (found footage), Johan Van Der Keuken (artistic documentary), Allison Murray (dance & video), Wyn Geleynse (loopboxes). Since then she has been working on performances as well as installations. The last couple of years she is focussing once again on "one-channel"-projects. Her work is screened all over the world at festivals, in galleries, art centers,etc. and distributed by 5 different companies situated in Europe and North-America.
