Bio:
Lorelei Pepi is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor with Harvard University’s Carpenter Center for the Arts where she teaches animation filmmaking. She received her MFA in Experimental Animation from California Institute of the Arts and her BFA in Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design. Her production company, "Alembic Cinema" is involved in gallery-based interactive installations, and producing a current animation film project, Happy and Gay, a “revisionist history” 1930’s b&w cartoon musical addressing homophobic and racist attitudes. Filmography/Awards Info: She is an internationally award-winning independent animator, receiving such awards such as the Grand Prize at the Ottawa Animation Film Festival and 2nd Festival Prize “High Risk” at Fantoche. She has screened at venues such as Sundance, Rotterdam, Oberhausen, Göteberg, Annecy, Ann Arbor, Anima Mundi Brazil, Leipzig, Atlanta, Los Angeles WAC, Toronto Images, Image Out Rochester, MixNY, OutFest LA and toured with MadCat, Ann Arbour, Microcinema and NextFrame.
