Bio:
Vanessa S. Brown was 12 when she made her first photographs and was exhibiting by 17. She won national and international photography awards before going on to earn a BFA at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Her work has been in several publications and has been collected nationally. It was in Savannah that Jeff Louviere and Vanessa met and their first collaboration was a series of photo-storyboards for a film they had written. They moved to New Orleans in 1998 where they began using their art direction and commercial photo skills to publish a photo-story book about a lost dog in New Orleans, which sold out of its first printing. They created a series of activist posters that have been in serveral graphic design publications, the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center and all over the city streets. A series of unpublished tableauxs, created to resemble New Orleans crime scenes, were the impetus for their fine art work as it is now.
