Live at Lincoln Center:
In an innovative new production of Igor Stravinsky’s classic World War I era “Histoire du Soldat” (A Soldier’s Tale), Kasumi created original film/video art for three sold-out performances in the 2800 seat concert hall. Following two Brandenberg concerti, the 50 minute piece by Stravinsky was performed by Pinchas Zuckerman and principle players of the New York Philharmonic conducted by Xian Zhang. It was narrated by F. Murray Abraham, Marian Seldes, and Tim Blake Nelson along with a live puppet show co-designed by Doug Fitch and Kitao Sakurai.

The film/video art was played live by Kasumi onstage from a laptop alongside the musicians and actors. The performance included live VJ style mixing as well as animations that interacted with the actors’ lines and music.

The performers were rewarded with standing ovations.

Experimental Video and Music in Germany:
Kasumi was recently one of 19 participants in CAMP [03] (creative arts and music project) an international festival for electronic music, sound art, installation, and projected imagery held in Kirchentellinsfurt, Germany.

Artists and musicians from Germany, Spain, Portugal gathered for three intensive days and nights of experimentation and improvisation after which the fruits of their labor were displayed and performed. www.camp-festival.de www.kultur-unterm-schirm.de
