Bio:
Annika Glac studied piano at the Victorian College of the Arts. Her love for music developed into a passion for directing and so she did further study at Rusden College to develop her directing skills. After graduating, she won the ABC Award for the best movement piece in a theatrical performance at the 1995 fringe festival for directing Sottovocce. During this time she formed The Glass Kingdom, a production company with cinematographer Marcus Struzina, and worked on another six theatre works which toured Europe. Her short film The Kiss was accepted into the International Biennale in Paris, and Annika was invited to introduce the film to the European audience. Jane Balfour, an international distributor based in London, took up the distribution of the film and it travelled to countless festivals around the world. Since then Annika has made films such as Donut Girl, Man and Mrs Paruzel, which showcases her very distinctive directing style. Recently Mrs Paruzel featured at the Upstart Film Festival, screening at Village Cinema Europa. In October 2004 it was theatrically released at Federation Square as a short before a feature. Recently Man and Mrs Paruzel were bought by the Spiritual Cinema Circle in the US, which distributes to subscribers over 70 countries, and Microcinema Distribution. Currently she is working on a number of feature length projects, Sparkle, written in 2002 received script development support from the Australian Film Commission. Belladonna will be Annika’s first feature film.
