Bio:
Filmography/Awards Info: (Q1) With Deadly Squirrel I explored perspective animation in regards to hand drawn images (eg; a rocking chair cycle viewed from six angles ) whilst focusing on a theme of comedy and escapeism that I hoped would humor the audience. In this creation I sort to merge traditional animation techniques and digital production methods employing 35mm film telecine/digital editing systems and computer sound files. (Q2) Approx 22 months part time. (Q3) Deadly Squirrel was completely self funded. I found the greatest challenge was providing continual capital in order to sustain ongoing and uninterrupted production. (Q4) No (Q5) The following are production procedures and techniques; * Fully cel animated. * Soundtrack/FX compiled, manipulated and edited on PC using Media Studio Sound Editor. * Semi cut out backgrounds rendered with markers and pencil overlaying 'sky cel'. * Shot on 35mm neg digitally enhanced and edited to Digital Betacam SP. * Duration 4:30 min. Available on all video formats. (Q6) My preferred aspect of animation is not necessarily technique, ie; cel, stop motion or computer generated, more so the concept and themes of humor portraying the disposition of the character often indulging in explosive displays of overly excitable personality tendences (Q7) I've lived in Brisbane, Australia all of my life (27 years). This region does'nt have an influence on my films, it's just a nice place to live. (Q8) I believe Microcinema to be a new joint forefront in public accessibility and exposure of Independent Filmmaking of all genres to the general population. (Q9) Often a battle for capital yet mostly a domain of free expression. (Q10) Invest in yourself and make the films YOU want. (Q11) I have a new animated film in production. Stay tuned. (Q12) Live Action; Steven Spielberg for his insight and portrayal of a broad spectrum of human psyches from fantasy stories to historical events. Animation; Bill Plymptons drawing style and turbulent themes. You only need to see a few seconds to tell it's a Plympton Film. (Q13) Top Four; (1)The Empire Strikes Back (2)Close Encounters of the Third Kind (3)The Color Purple (4)ET This Contact appears in this database if Microcinema International has screened a film directed by the Contact, a film directed by the contact is featured in a DVD distributed by the Blackchair Collection Shop, or featured an organization or activity linked with the Contact.
