Bio:
Stephen Arthur started making animated films at age 14 and continued to make them while studying biology at university. He then turned to experimental live-action films, followed by a graduate degree in film prouction at USC in Los Angeles. This led to a ten-year period of authoring commercial feature-length screenplays while making a living as a technical writer. Finally -- after a third major detour as a neuroscientist -- he returned to his early roots as a self-taught experimental filmmaker. For the last nine years Arthur has been using a computer to create photo-based hybrid media and virtual cinematography. Filmography/Awards Info: Arthur directed the National Film Board of Canada 35mm film "Transfigured", which animated the paintings of Jack Shadbolt; developed the educational simulation film series "Earth Moves" (NFB); and is releasing in 2004 the widescreen DVD "Tran Scan", an extended film using the method developed in Vision Point -- an experiencial trip never before captured on camera; a stunning cross-Continent journey that took two years to make.
