Bio:

Born in 1980 in Holland, Daan started with animation when he was 18 years old. He studied at the academy for art and design in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. He was studying in a class for sculpture, but when he had finished his school he had never made a sculpture at all. But he did something else; he discovered the magic of animation. First with some cut-out techniques and computer based animations. Later on he will never use cut out techniques again, he started to specialize in stop-motion and computer animation. He also receives a residency for the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam in 2003 and 2004. After that he gets several other stipends. His films have been showed on national and international festivals, such as the DOK festival Leipzig, EMAF Festival Osnabrueck, NFF Utrecht, HAFF, Ismailia International Film Festival Egypt, Mind Ignite Australia, MMM Festival Austria, Les Recontres Audiovisuelles France, SENEF Seoul Film Festival Korea.

In 2002 he won the Kodak Award on the Dutch Film Festival in the Netherlands. Atmosphere and movement, the art of reality, surrealism, the bizarre and macabre play an important role.
