Bio:
Smriti Mehra: I have been studying digital video for the last one-year and am a final year student of Communication Design. My first experience with video was a collaborative project, a documentary of issues of sexuality targeted mainly at urban youth called ‘Silent Spaces.’ I am currently working on my final diploma project in collaboration with Sanjit Sethi called ‘The Building Nomads.’ The Project attempts to come to a closer understanding of migrant construction workers and further plans to prototype, fabricate and construct a communication tool. The building nomads project attempts to create this tool/device in order to transform an aspect of their lives from being disabled to enabled and just as importantly provoke a discourse about larger issues of visibility and marginalization, technology, and design. My interest lies in looking at interstitial spaces, lives and realities.
