Bio:
Gene Dugan is the founder and co.Director of Out North. Before moving to Alaska he was Assistant Director of an arts center in Plymouth, England. He has been an Artist in Schools in rural Alaska, produced an AIDS education video for Alaska Native families, and coordinated a statewide touring program for professional performing artists. He has served on grants panels for Alaska State Council on the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, and ArtsLink, and is a board member of the National Performance Network. Filmography/Awards Info: • He probably appears somewhere in the film Woodstock. • In the early 1970s he had a featured role in an independent film produced in upstate New York by the president of a mink oil cosmetics company. • In 2003 he made a presentation at the British Film Institute on Out North's media art program. Gene Dugan and Jay Brause (co.Director of Out North) were the plaintiffs in the litigation to secure same-sex marriage in the State of Alaska. In 2004 they were married in Multnomah County, Oregon.
