Bio:
Alan Denman works as a screenwriter, script consultant and film maker. He is the writer/director of award-winning shorts that have been shown at UK, US and Cannes film festivals. He is writer/producer of Dream Bermuda, an international feature, and has a number of other features currently in development. He was chair of the Screenwriters` Workshop 1996 - 99 and was instrumental in setting up the Screenwriters Centre in central London. He organises monthly industry seminars for the SW. Recent speakers have included Tim Bevan (Working Title), Allon Reich (Miramax), Steve Abbott (`Brassed Off`), Michael Wearing (producer `Edge of Darkness`, `Boys from the Black Stuff`), and writers such as Jack Rosenthal, Alan Plater, Simon Nye, Peter Flannery and Frank Cottrell Boyce. He is also head of development for Euroscript, a Media II funded script development organisation and has worked as an editor and consultant to assist writers develop their screenplays to industry standard. He has helped run screenwriting workshops in Greece, Portugal and France and teaches courses and seminars on screenwriting for the SW and other UK organisations. Previous to entering the film industry, he has been: an art college lecturer, astrologer, restauranteur, children`s entertainer and film extra. He has run small presses publishing poetry and short stories and has had his own fiction published in national magazines. He also ran his own original multi media theatre company performing in theatres and public spaces in London and the South East.
