Bio:
David Chalker is an Award Winning Filmmaker working in San Francisco. After graduating from Kenyon College with a English degree, he attended film school at the University of Arizona. While there, he wrote and directed two short films, was a coordinator for the Arizona International Film Festival and was a projectionist at the local independent movie theater. Upon moving to SF he took a position as a Scriptwriter and Assistant Editor on a feature documentary called “Unconquering the Last Frontier”. Over the next couple years David paid his dues on set by working in a variety of departments and positions, including production, camera, grip/electric and sound. Since then he has served as First Assistant Director on a multitude of feature films, shorts, music videos and commercials. Recently he has Line Produced several commercials, music videos and a feature film called “Never Die Twice”. As a Director of Photography he has shot commercials, short films and a museum installation called “Carbon 12” which won the 1st Place Artist Award in Dublin at the Irish Museum of Modern Art. His most recent short film, “Hypocrite”, which he wrote, shot, produced and directed, has won several awards at film festivals including the Grand Prize Award at San Francisco International and the Most Innovative Short Film Award at Tiburon International. “Hypocrite” has screened at a dozen more film festivals and is being distributed in Europe and the United States.
