Bio:
Sarah Klein's work manifests itself in video. Drawn to the language of the home and the rituals of everyday life, she shares in common traditions of our recent past. Specifically interested in the process of making naturally leaved bread, her "performative baking events" in office buildings and eight-hour long bread baking workshops with inner-city youth establish the process over the product. Klein initially turned to video as a way to document her performative works and currently approaches the subject of bread in a variety of styles. Klein has exhibited her work widely including The Film Arts Festival of Independent Cinema in Berkeley, the Intermedia Festival in Cincinnati, Snack on Art Experimental TV in Brooklyn, the Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito, the De Young Museum, Meridian Gallery and Southern Exposure in San Francisco.
