Bio:
Phoenix Perry (Reline co-curator) Phoenix Perry has been curating video art and music events in the San Francisco Bay area for the last four years. She has shown her own video and installation work in London, Barcelona, Hanover, and San Francisco. She now resides in Brooklyn, New York. Recently, her main project, Form Records, a collaboration between her and Brian Jackson, focuses on presenting ground breaking video work and music that is genre defiant. As half of Memory Systems, an electronic music project, she makes electronic music and video. Memory Systems' sounds and images recall a future-past-perfect of immaculate robotic shopping malls, bright shiny objects, and an earlier era's innocent immersion in technological glamour. Phoenix Perry's lushly ambiguous imagery utilizes digital decay and degradation while retaining rich beauty and compelling density. Perry constantly pushes systems until they break down and rebuild into new forms. Phoenix Perry creates visual and sonic art. Her mediums include, installation, video, live performance, sculpture, sound and painting. Motivated by exploring advanced structures of consciousness and modes of communication, her work frequently focuses on the intersections of complex systems of language, myth, science, politics and architecture. With emphasis on the creation of conceptual, technically advanced and aesthetically developed works, she aims to present beauty while also re-examining rationality. Her works have screened internationally at venues such as The Lincoln Center and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
