At the end of the nineties, Viktor & Rolf broke into the international fashion world as innovative designers with their theatrical catwalk shows and avant-garde creations. Now they are ready to conquer the world with their own fashion house, their perfume 'flowerbomb', a matching catwalk collection, and new lines of glasses and shoes. The film Viktor & Rolf: "Because we're worth it!" takes the viewer up close and personal with the Dutch fashion duo at this turning point in their career. Over the period of one year, documentary filmmaker Femke Wolting follows Viktor & Rolf every step of the way as they take on a new course. The film shows how they capture the flame of the international fashion world, not only thanks to their exceptional creative and conceptual talents, but also thanks to their unique collaboration that has lasted for over a decade. Together, the film and the exclusive bonus footage included on this DVD offer a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the making of a fashion house. This DVD has never been screened
Reviews and Other Info:
Disc format: DVD-5 Picture format: 4:3 Language: Dutch and English Subtitles: Dutch and English Audio: Dolby pro logic This is what the press wrote: A beautiful documentary about the establishment of a fashion house. Not for the Netherlands, not for Europe, but for the whole world. Infinitely elegant, endlessly gentle. -- Trouw, newspaper What's more, it's an honest portrait. Wolting followed Viktor & Rolf everywhere, including the moments that they employed empty fashion rhetoric, where earlier they had so precisely pointed it out? -- VARA TV Magazine Comic documentary... The fashion world remains much more absurd and clichéd than we dared to suspect since the terrific imitation of it by 'Bruno' (the Austrian fashion queen on the Ali G. show on VPRO television). -- De Volkskrant, newspaper Without needing a text for these kinds of scenes, Wolting subtly shows the not-to-be underestimated role and importance of marketing in this world, and how designers deal with it... -- VPRO magazine There currently are no reviews available
