Microcinema International’s international touring film festival, Independent Exposure, is currently in its eleventh year. The 2006 Animation program contains an assorted collection of innovative moving image artists who are pioneering the development of new and exciting ways of approaching animation. Artists featured in this program are from a variety of different countries, some of which include Bulgaria, Australia and Germany.
The program includes shorts by Signe Baumane and Joanna Priestley whose works are sold in our online DVD store. In addition to these artists Federico Solmi’s animations and drawings have been shown at the Drawing Center in New York, as well as around the world. His short featured here, “Rocco Never Dies” was also featured at the last Impakt Film Festival. In contrast to moving image artists with a long experience in animation, this program also presents lesser known animators and ones just at the beginning of their careers, like “Space Travel” by Steven Lall, an excellent animation which is Lall’s second short.
