Microcinema International kicks off its 2007 Independent Exposure season with a deliciously eclectic mix of short films and videos from North America and Europe. Bowing to the emergence of YouTube as a source of emerging art, Drug Spider by Apeman gets its silver screen debut after being one of the most watched videos on the internet this year. IE 2007 also see the return of Lev and his sardonic angst in Tales of Existence II.
2007 may be the year of the documentary as we saw a spike in doc submissions. Bullet Proof Vest by US filmmaker May Lin Au Yong takes us into a neighborhood where children wish to wear flack jackets - it is not in the third world - it is across the bay from San Francisco.
Independent Exposure would not be complete without featuring experimental and intellectually challenging works from international artists - and of course some comic relief to keep us all entertained. Where else can you get the history of the Iraq war through hand gestures and of course there's the question of that moose-cock.
