The 2008 Animation edition features an assorted collection of fifteen innovative works by moving image artists who are pioneering the development and implementation of new and exciting animation techniques. The incredibly dramatic and precise stop motion live-action animation of Vanita is followed by the playful and whimsical film featuring a pipe cleaner Mantis. Other subjects portrayed include tourism, advertising, slums, looms and sports. The program closes with the Third prize winner, Birdcalls which is described as, "a strange mix of McLuhan 'mediology', Audubon cataloging, and post-abstract expressionist calligraphy."
