Eleven

"Eleven" takes its title and point of departure from recent physics theories of eleven parallel dimensions across multiple universes . This film is a 5 minute excursion into the powerful , complex, arbitrary and unpredictable chaotic patterns of natural phenomena such as tornados. A view of the equally fascinating, "beautiful", puzzling and horrific nature of such events . An abstract fiction of the ghosts, spirits and traces of human experiences.

This film attempts to take up the perspective of our complete universe being "a little bubble of froth in a sea of bubbling universes" and our corresponding view of "reality" as only one of many possibilities. Stylistically this short film attempts to travel between genres of abstract and narrative films. The film's form is intended to parrallel its multidimensional subject matter and attempts to communicate equally with poetic and narrative means.
Technically this film uses some digital video footage rotoscoped, effected and composited with "2d" computer generated animation. The digital animation was largely produced with U&I Software's "Artmatic"* program which uses a unique modifiable tree like structure of graphics functions(sophisticated fractal and other mathematical components) and filters to produce high resolution graphics, and sounds!
Thanks is due to Peter Miller/"Perpetual Ocean" (http://www.perpetualocean.com/bio.html and Eric Wenger (http://www.uisoftware.com)for example tree structures used as starting points for creating some of the animation footage in "Artmatic". *"ArtMatic, like all the software from U&I, is quite unique. It can be thought of as a kind of visual synthesizer, allowing the user to assemble streams of algorithmic components in virtually limitless ways, to create extraordinary still images and animations at any resolution."
The soundtrack: also created by the artist primarily using "Metasynth" visual /sound software studio manipulating recorded and digitally created atmospheres and music compositions.
