Other Info:
Shot entirely on palm sizeded "juice box" cams, the Real Adventures of GI Joe was an experiment in cinematic animation. That is, instead of moving the figures the animation results from moving the cameras. This style of movie making was only made possible by the recent availability of lightweight, handheld digital video cameras. In fact, when one of the camera broke, shooting had to stop as the shots were impossible to achieve with conventional cameras. The film is also heavily influenced by many directors and war films and pays homage to everyone from Sergei Eisenstein to Francis Ford Coppolla. It also represents a solo effort, no one else, other than the filmmaker, was involved in this production. |
