Onion Ainoi tells the story of a little man with an onion for a head as he travels through a dreamlike world of glowing, and sometimes scary, mystery. The land of Onion Ainoi is a red-skied, crunchy world, where fields and forests inhabit a supersaturated mid-autumn gloaming, and where magical transformations take place. The glittering shapes on the surface of a dark pond become ecstatic and eerie underwater landscapes. A fall down a well becomes a fall into Paradise. Our little onion man sheds his skins as frequently as he sheds his tears. In this piece, lustrous watercolor landscapes and shimmering holofoil heavens serve as the backdrop for a tale that answers for us the question “What makes an onion cry?”
