The Modern sculpture born in the first half of the 20th century took rounded, organic shapes from nature and added to them straight cuts, flattened surfaces and lines (wires) connecting parts of the piece. The apparent contradiction of the organic and the industrial, flat and straight surfaces created the strong appeal and transcending quality of modern sculpture. As former sculptors we have been developing a series of forms inspired in modern sculpture, using 3D software. Although we could add qualities intrinsic to our media (CG) that the iron and marble sculptors didn’t have – such as transparency and above of all movement. Also we can layer the initial result bringing complexity to the changing forms. Outflow - part one can be described as organic forms, cut and modified to add a man-made look to some corners, colored with transparent materials, allowing to see the whole form and animated as the opening of a flower or leaf. The initial animation was then layered to bring complexity and diversity. Outflow is a high definition DVD being developed in our studio. The short presented here is the first part of it.
